Doing much the same as this time last year ... hoping to go to Italy in May for a training course, and bought a BMW just in time for the snow up here (Worst.Car.Ever.In.The.Snow.)
Currently floating my boat is my breadmaker and sourdough recipes, listening to Neutral Milk Hotel again (In The Aeroplane Over The Sea), catching up with old schoolmates and going to Alloa football matches (masochistic tendencies).

It's funny you should mention the BMW.
We have a Skoda Octavia (front wheel drive
) which has had little problem in the snow (we had about a foot here)
However, it's funny the amount of Mercs / BMWs I either helped or saw in trouble.

Excellent news on the bread making. Please send me a slice with a decent spread of real butter & I'll put the kettle on : )
I'm enjoying Starsailor, Snow Patrol (after seeing a great 'songwriter' episode on Sky Arts with the lead singer) and Placebo who I think rank in my top 1
TV - Glee is quite funny as is Modern Family but generally don't watch too much really.
Watched a thing about the history of chemistry on BBC 3 (?) last night which was interesting. I like stuff like that.
Also rewatching Band of Brothers on TCM. Still really great to watch. What a brilliant series.
Saw Avatar the other day, which was visually stunning but story was a bit cliche.
Much more deserving than Titanic though.
My son has an Xbox with Call of Duty. I'd like to have the time to get better at that. I used to be great at video games but seem to have lost my mojo and my son wipes the floor with me. Good for him
Reading is the new TV
Recently finished 'Illusions' by Richard Bach (Jonathan Livingston Seagull) which I loved
Then read 'And the Hippos were boiled in their tanks' which was good. (William Burroughs & Jack Kerouac)
This lead me on to Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac (I've had a first edition of this for ages but never read. Really great)
Now on to a recent William Gibson book 'Spook Country' which I found the other day in the charity shop. Not read him for years. I'll let you know how it goes.
This is a problem of mine; buying new books in the chairity shops
I have quite a good library of books I've accumulated over the years but have probably only really read a quarter of them (I've started over half)
My new years resolution is to force myself to read more and finish what I start.
