How's about doing something creative??

Post by morphim » January 23rd, 2007, 4:33 pm

Who fancies a Chinese Pictures type thang??
I saw a similar idea on another site the other day (I know there are probably thousands  )
Anyway, this one was for a 400 x 400 px image made creatively(?) from 3 random images - you didn't have to use all 3, unless you wanted, but had to use at least 2. Not sure I've explained that too well??

As many people as we like can play at one time since there's no passing around. All we'd have to do is stick to a dead line. We could all then vote for the winner (if that matters?)

Or...

What about one of those image worm type things? Anything goes & size wise say 400 x 400 again with an extra 100 width bleed on either the bottom or right (we'd have to decide this right from the start.) Anyone could have a go at any time as long as you don't have two consecutive entries.

I'm thinking this might be a way to go with this site; to encourage active involvment in these kinds of creative games, maybe with prizes (everybody needs a 'carrot' )?
We could lord over everyone as judges (and not just of their artwork  )

What do you think?

Could be a nice idea. Although not strictly my thing, most of the folk here would have a go I'm sure.

I'm a web guy. Back-end, arcitecture and front-end design but I'm no artist. Plus, I usually don't have a huge amount of time! I don't tend to help very often as the web business is very over-saturated and I don't tend to help the opposition. Although as you will have seen in the past, I do my bit. :)

I'd have a go. Probably.

What did you say the prize was Morph, a 1957 Speedster?

No. Sorry, I missed out on that one. You'll have to settle for the '58 I'm afraid

Count me in, ill have a go too. :D I put my name down for the worm on Computer Arts ages ago but God knows when it will get to my turn!

I do think though that it doesnt really look much like a worm. Each section is really good theres some great work on it but it doesnt seem to flow when you scroll along if you know what i mean. Not sure how you would make better though?

OK. What if we say that you have to almost 'graduate' the theme of the previous entry. Sort of clone it at the beginning of your entry, so there's some continiuty.
I guess like chinese pictures, where your efforts would be influenced by what the previous person had submitted to you?

It might be quite nice to mimic the previous person's style and transform it into your own.

I'm in anyway. Myself and another guy from the CA forum were (are) organising the worm, but it is so hard to keep tracking people down and reminding them. If you are generally stuck for time, which I often am, chasing people up is put on the backburner. Our little circle of fiends* here is the best size for creating something relatively quickly with minimal fuss. Bring it on!

*Not a typo
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
