hosting question

Post by Simon » July 8th, 2006, 3:50 pm

I am doing this site at moment, and they are getting the hosting, as they are moving from the one they got now etc to a new one, asked them to ask a few questions etc and the one manly was does it include db's and the reply was yes ONE db witht the acount, and they are going to pay £60, so they got back to me and asked if i could get it cheaper ect etc

my question is which one would you get

http://www.idat.co.uk/domains.html

this one is the one they are think of going with, heres some answers to questions asked.
Regarding email, within the control panel it is possible to set up as many as you require (within reason)

Sites using data transfer up to-
1 GB per month will be charged £60 per year
e-Commerce sites charged at £120 per year
1-2 GB per month will be charged £120 per year
2-3 GB per month will be charged £180 per year
3-4 GB per month will be charged £240 per year

The hosting is shared on a dedicated server, so a limited amount of accounts.
the one i use and has db total 99 etc etc is

http://www.sitehq.co.uk/hosting_linux_mysql_php.php

probably choose the £45 package?

I know really not to much about this side of things etc
but which one would you choose?

This forum is hosted here >> www.mediatemple.net

as recommended by Neil at Article19 (who??)

Because it's a US company, the exchange rate makes it really good value for money. I've had no probs.

Hope this helps.

looks good, only 5 db but hey they dont need 99, mainly only one two at the most.

QUESTION:when they say 5 websites, do they mean they can have 5 different domain name s point to the hosting so if they have another one they dont have to buy more hosting?

Yes.

You set up one main domain for the hosting. You can then point four other domains to them as sub domains but they act just the same as individual domains. Citizen Art and this forum are a sub domain. 8)
I think it's great. I'm sure you could get a better deal if you looked around but I can recommend this one (and so did Neil ... can't be bad!!)
