ahhh Flickr, why Web2.0 is worthwhile.

if you is looking for a secure Forum then BBpress is rather good albeit feature limited which is a good thing in many ways. But of course you can't change the forum again because if you do i'll hit you with a hammer!!!

Your forums looks nice. TBH, I'll probably stick with this one for now. I've been a bit lazy with the updates recently (shame on me)
Hopefully I'll keep on top of it now.

Are you still with media Temple? I'm on a SS package but I see they don't offer that any more (not sure how long they'll keep the ss up and running ... probably force me to chage at renewal in Oct??)

The next option is GS (grid servers for $20 pcm- as opposed to the $7.95 pcm I'm currently paying. Is it worth the extra?

The Grid is a very cool new product, it does have some teething troubles but mostly it runs well and the features are excellent.

It's about as close as you can get to running a dedicated server without paying dedicated server prices.

multiple domain hosting is a breeze, admin control is via a superb control panel, it's all good. Ruby on Rails containers if you get ambitious, PHP5 if you want it and multiple database formats all at the click of a button.

Storage space is massive (100GB) and plenty of bandwidth (1TB which most folks don't need but we run a lot of video so appreciate the breathing space)

It's all good.

As far as I know SS will run for ever but nobody can sign up for it anymore. I have a client on SS and there web hosting needs are very limited so they are happy with it.

I'm happy with the SS at the moment but I have a few projects which I hope will increase traffic and hence bandwidth and therefore will exceed the ss quota. I don't know too much about these things. I tend to teach myself as the need arises.
I'm glad to hear you say that you think they'll keep supplying the ss service but I do think I'll upgrade as the need / cash allows.

With that said, the currency converts to Â£4.07 (ss p/m) over Â£10.19 (gs p/m) so not too much of a wallet burden and tax deductable anyway
