In case anyone thinks I'm claiming this technique as my own invention, I got the idea from the last issue of Digital Camera Magazine. Always worth a look.

I'm still playing around with different sized vessels and trying to get a classic "crown" effect, but it's quite difficult. Might try a new medium, eg milk, oil or syrup.

And yes, the D300 is lovely.

I took around 500 shots last year during a night-time thunderstorm ... obviously hoping to capture some fork lightning.
What did I end up with?
500 pitch black shots of the night sky. Brilliant. Thanks goodness for digital images.
