Back to parent...

Post by odog » February 17th, 2006, 10:27 am

Is it possible to link something in a parent folder/directory from a sub folder/directory.

For example, have a sub directory which uses the CSS and images held in the root directory.

I should really know this, but have never had reason to use it before.

Thanks in advance  .

Yes (assuming I understand your question!). Place

Code: Select all

../
in front of the link, and it moves back up a directory. For example, a page inside a "Gallery" directory could reference a header image in the parent folder using

Code: Select all

../header.jpg
To go up two directories, just string two examples of code together, eg

Code: Select all

../../
You can also go back down through directories after moving up, eg

Code: Select all

../../photos/landcapes.hill.jpg
Hope this helps.
