Collating Radio Button data

Post by morphim » November 1st, 2007, 4:19 pm

Hello

I'm cobbling together a quick web site for a friend.
It's for his degree disertation.

He needs radio buttons for users to select an answer, after listening to an audio clip, as well as one or two input fields.
What i need to know is; how do I collect / collate / save this data for him to retrieve?

What html do i need and what server stuff do I need to set?? I have mysql databases at my disposal but I have no idea what that means :D

Go gentle with me. I'm stupid

A first, rough layout of the site is here >>

An alternative is to write it to a text file with php. That'll be fine I'd imagine for a small, low-volume site. Alternatively, you'd need to make use of that MySQL database to save the data, with some kind of secure area where the admin could view/print the saved data.

I can do this for you. It'll be cheap but not free, as it's still a mornings work. Simon may do it for you for nothing as he has lots of time on his hands

Pay for it :!: :?: You must be a mad cow

I haven't paid for anything since 1996 (court case pending)

Seriously though, I'm doing this for a favour to him. If I do anything, I'd rather be able to do it myself so I at least learn something.

I think he's anticipating 10 to 20 responses to his 'questionnaire' max. , so nothing really high volume.

If what I'm asking is really complicated, I'll probably just set up an e-mail form.

Levi, thanks very much for your kind offer. Some guy over at the other place posted a link to a php thing. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I'll see if that will do it before I obligate you.
I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Paul: thanks for nothing

I know, I know. I only said that because this is my only source of income and I can't really push client work to the back unless I'm earning something (however small an amount). I wasn't being greedy, just no work = no money = no bug/vodka/holiday/christmas/ferrari/house extension/sex/crisps...

Don't worry about it. I was joking and I don't expect much for nothing. (That's actually not true but .... )

I do know what it's like. However, I generally do end up doing stuff for nowt. I'm just stupid, I guess

However, as i said, I always try to learn something from doing freebees(?). If it's way too complicated for me, I usually don't bother.

BTW. Take a look at this site and let me know what you think about it.
How quickly could you replicate it?
Something better looking but exactly the same content / functionality.
I'll tell you why afterwards
