Me again : ) CSS in Ebay auctions

Post by morphim » October 6th, 2006, 8:39 am

Hello. I linked to an external css file in one of my ebay auctions and it broke Ebay. 8)
Everything on the page was messed up (which violates ebay listing policy .... no idea why :lol:) It looked hilarious.

Anyway, I'm not sure why this happened. I know I've linked to css files before with no probs but I can't remember how.
How can I effect only my description layout??

Thanks again

i have no idea what the hell your talking about with regards to ebay, can you choose your own style sheet then etc??

but heres two ways to link to an external style sheet

Code: Select all

<link rel="stylesheet" href="folder/mycsssheet.css" type="text/css"/>
or

Code: Select all

 <style>
         @import url ("stylesheet.css");
     </style>
there is a slight difference but cannot remember what I think ie cannot use the import thingy?

No. I know how to link but my style sheet is affecting the whole page (all of Ebay's links and layout) and not just my auction desription.
I'm not sure why it's doing this??

I need the css to only affect my description. I've currently had to cut out all of the css to make it work but my template design is ruined as a result :cry:

you need to find out what is used to display the description section from the

<div> (#descriptionlayout { blah!})
Then find out the styles for the div, this can be defined to tthe div

#descriptionlayout .maintext {.... or general

.maintext{....

if its general then if you alter this then anything with in the page using the .maintext ect will be effected if you use the defined then it will only effect whats using .maintext in that specific div.

with out seeing visually the code etc of what you mean having trouble are you messing with ebay etc or os there a thing that lets you dispay your items onto onther page etc not sure? :D
